eOceans Partners with Nets For Net Zero for Virtual Ocean Sweep
May, 2021 – Halifax, Canada
eOceans joins Nets For Net Zero to initiate the first World Oceans Day ‘Virtual Ocean Sweep’
To celebrate this year’s UN World Oceans Day: Life and Livelihoods, in partnership with Nets For Net Zero, eOceans created a dedicated Team on the eOceans platform that enables individuals and communities to unite and track their Ocean Sweep effort and impact around the globe for the month of June.
It's virtual so you can join anytime and anywhere on or near the ocean.
This event takes place between June 1st 2021 and June 30th 2021 — every day, any time.
Anyone who is close to, on, or under the ocean can join the team. Whether it’s walking a nearby beach, or you are lucky enough to go diving, sailing, swimming, surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, or on a boat ride in your closest ocean. You can join.
To get involved:
1. Download the FREE eOceans app & create a personal account — you own your data.
2. Join the UN WOD2021 Ocean Sweep Team.
3. Log your efforts. At any point during the month of June, when you go near or into the ocean, use the eOceans app to track your activity, log your observations, and pick up as much common litter as you can. All your relevant data will be automatically shared with the UN WOD2021 Ocean Sweep Team.
It's called a sweep rather than a clean-up because garbage are not actually cleaned-up, but rather moved from one place (ocean) to another (landfill) and micro-plastics still remain.
